Wrexham FM, the original community station in Wrexham, has joined forces with NorthWalesExtra.com to guarantee resources to get them through the recession. Wrexham FM has been operating since 1994 and has been funded by volunteers since it’s start. NorthWalesExtra will provide the station with web hosting, website services and news reporting services. The new Wrexham FM website is http://www.wrexhamfm.com.
The Welsh Government’s Community Radio Fund has opened for the financial year 2012-2013. This fund was set up to recognise the contribution community radio stations make to their communities, and stations, which have been granted a five-year broadcast license by Ofcom, can apply. The minimum grant is for £5,000 and there is no upper limit. The closing date for funding is 17 February 2012.
