Presenter and secretary of Radio Maelor, Catherine Ollier, has brought Easter joy to the town of Wrexham in North Wales with the Easter Egg Appeal.
The Appeal was for the pupils at St Christopher’s School and young patients at Maelor Hospital in Wrexham. Nine people took part this year to organise the enormous number of eggs.
Seventy eggs were delivered to St Christopher’s on 23rd March and a further twenty were presented to Maelor Hospital Children’s Ward by the help of the Mayor and Mayoress of Wrexham, Councillor Ian Roberts and The Mayoress, Mrs Hilary Roberts.
Catherine told Community RA+Edio that “we like to make sure that pupils and patients are included in the Easter celebrations. St Christopher’s School always make us feel really welcome and it always puts a smile on their faces when they receive their Easter eggs, as well as the younger patients at the Maelor Hospital”.
The appeal has been running since 2009 with the help of Lorraine Williams from Sainsbury’s Plas Coch in Wrexham and Catherine told me that ‘they do all the hard work as their shoppers and staff make the donations’.
Her programme ‘Join Our Club’ is sponsored by Sainsbury’s and the Easter Egg Appeal is just one of many ways Radio Maelor is supported by the supermarket chain. The station also receives CD donations from Sainsbury’s every month, which become prizes to patients.
