Birmingham Hospital Radio has its own diamond jubilee

It has been broadcasting across major hospitals in the city for 60 years now.

They are celebrating with an anniversary ball on May the 19th where past and present members and presenters will be gathering.

The station are also in the difficult process of moving studios- they are about to sign a lease to take over an old Operating Theatre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Teenagers celebrate Hospital Radio Week at Radio BGM

Sixth form students Gareth Hurford, Owain Gunn and Brandon Cleaver took did a 25 hour live session on the station at Prince Phillip Hospital in Llanelli.

They were doing the broadcast to highlight the importance of hospital radio.

The station are also celebrating at the moment after receiving nearly £4,000 in funding from  Communities First which will be used to enhance the station’s facilities so they can broadcast over the internet.
